Coast Rhododendron
Rhododendron macrophyllum
In 1892, before they had the right to vote, Washington women selected the coast rhododendron as the state flower. They wanted an official flower to enter in a floral exhibit at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago. Six flowers were considered, but the final decision was narrowed to clover and the "rhodie," and voting booths were set up for ladies throughout the state. When the ballots were counted, the rhododendron had been chosen as the Washington state flower.
The state flag and the state seal are similar. Passed in 1923, Washington state law describes the flag as having dark green bunting with a state seal in the center. It is the only state flag that is green. It is also the only state flag with a picture of a president.
I'm a native of Washington State, I currently live outside the city of Gig Harbor Washington with my husband of 25 years and my 16 year old daughter Kelly.
My life long interest in sewing, stitching, knitting, crochet and quilting lead me to start an on-line hobby/business. With the help of my sons computer knowledge, I started giving away free patterns, sharing ideas and knowledge with others, and selling a few books and other items on my website. Now I prefer to use half.com and ebay as my shopping cart and paypal as my cashier.
It is truly a joy for me to make and give handmade items to my family and friends. Quilting has been a passion of mine for many years but I recently have been having fun making crochet hats and flower pins.
I take pride in my personalized service. Customer satisfaction is my most important goal.
Your impute is valuable to the on-going development . I want you to feel comfortable and enjoy your visits each time you return.
I look forward to continuously learning and trying new concepts and techniques in several different crafts and hobbies.
